Mashup assignment: I created a work of art i was once proud of but now i have grown to dislike it(visual aspect). I created this using a numerous amount of medias. I showcased the growth and change African American's have made on America, me being one of color, wanted to display how far my people have come, starting with the slavery days.while creating that i used value, it goes from dark to light. I drew hands in shackles representing how African American were seen as criminals, as if it were a crime to be black.i changed the media by drawing and not using crayons the same way as i did before. The thing I displayed next is how African American's came a little closer to freedom, and further from slavery, hardly. I drew a protest because that is what my people had to do in order to tell the world that inequality is wrong, the world listened a little but not as much as they should have, they were screaming for help and people treated them as if we were whispering for attention. the final image i attempted to recreate has a message, it is the "white house" for those of you who do not know slaves built the "White House'' entirely with their hands no help at all, and year after, year us black folk sat back and which white president after white president live in that same house the slaves built and pretend to run this country as if it is all under control but truly struggling with segregation and brutal things happening to African Americans literally under their noses. First black president Barack Obama brought black to the "White House". Even though many people hated him he brought the Black to America.
A Walk Through Art History: My art period was Rococo Art. I decided to use the organic side from the time period, by recreating the flower aspect.
Aesthetics:
Discrimination is like participation
you have a choice
Through marches and speeches
Their hate latched like leeches
Through burns and bullet woods
Blooded oozed like crayons on white paper
They hate what god created
As if the color of our skin was such a sin
From being a slave with shackles to passing a test
just to see your literacy rate was the best
Being black is not wack
being free is the way to be
Black white yellow red
we all bleed the same shade of red
They set the bar really low but we need to put on a good show
no violence no guns not one not two
killing your own kind is what we do
We need to unite we need to succeed
President Obama put us in the lead
The White House saw black for the first time
The world listen but were angry both times
We came we overcome we need to conquer the wold
if everyone is against us we need to be on our P's and Q's
Because sticking together is what we have to do Discrimination is like participation
you have a choice
hallway perspective : we were instructed to pick a hallway from our school draw it and then recreate it to personalize to our liking.
